Women

URI is committed to the equitable participation of women and men in all aspects of our organization. Many Cooperation Circles are devoted to projects for women, which focus on domestic violence prevention and counseling, job and skills training, gender equality, education, preventing female infanticide, and much more.

Some examples of this work include:

  • in Pakistan, URI members are educating women in poor, rural areas about their rights and giving them the resources they need to leave abusive situations;
  • in India, URI members are teaching families in India the importance of sending girl children to school along with their brothers;
  • in Ethiopia, URI members are working to end the practice of child marriage;
  • in Israel, URI members are creating safe spaces for Christian, Druze, Jewish, and Muslim women to meet and understand each other despite the ongoing violence all around them.
