Youth

URI respects wisdom from voices of all generations, and prizes a diversity of ages in leadership positions. URI Cooperation Circles work towards equity and fair representation in intergenerational peacebuilding.

Some examples of this work include:

  • in Bosnia and Herzegovina, URI members coordinate volunteering projects for young people to help disadvantaged families in their communities;
  • in India, URI members run schools to educate children from all castes and cultures side by side;
  • in Germany, URI members pair volunteers with refugee children to ease their transition into their new homes;
  • in Korea, a URI youth camp gathers young peacemakers from around the world, with scholarships, on an annual basis; and
  • globally, URI Cooperation Circles connect youth from diverse backgrounds to bridge their differences, to grow as leaders, and to work together for the good of their communities and the world.

2015 URI Youth Camp in Korea

URI Korea had held an annual international, interfaith and intercultural youth camp in Seoul, Chungnam and Gyeonggi Provinces, August 3-7, 2015, with the theme: Leadership for Equality and Compassion.

URI Kenya Takes Part in a Youth Empowerment Summit in Kenyan Conflict-Prone County, Kilifi

The Kilifi County Government, in partnership with Global Peace Foundation, and affiliated partners such as URI Kenya, held a Youth Summit that involved over 250 youth from the region.
