Tennessee Interfaith Group Publishes Newspaper Ad in Support of Muslims

In December, members of the Northeast Tennessee Chapter URI CC held a prayer vigil to show respect for their Muslim neighbors and stand up for religious freedom. Now, they've purchased a half page ad in the Sunday edition of the Johnson City Press newspaper to voice their support.

"We choose to stand with American Muslims and the vast majority of Muslims worldwide, who are as opposed to terror and violence as are other Americans," the group said in a letter signed by over 100 community members. "Let us all speak out against religious, racial and ethnic animosity and encourage all people to compassionately welcome into our Tennessee communities Syrian refugees who have been approved for asylum in the U.S."
