On September 21, 2009, the International Day of Peace, men, women and children from across the faith and cultural spectrum gathered at the Fitzroy Town Hall outside of Melbourne to talk about water as sacred, as intrinsic to life, and as an increasingly scarce resource. The forum, Sharing our Water, was the second in a series of annual inter-religious and cross-cultural forums organized by Common CC (Centre of Melbourne Multifaith and Others Network) to explore ways for indigenous and non-indigenous Australians with different values and lifestyles to live sustainably and peacefully in our shared world. A workshop for children included rain dances, theater and mural painting to teach children about recycling and conservation. The theme for this year’s forum, also held on Peace Day, is Sharing our Land. Common CC, approved as a URI CC in 2006, aims to promote trust and understanding among Melbourne’s increasingly diverse population through these yearly forums and an annual Multi-Faith week
