Nepal: UN International Day of Peace celebration

Dear URI Friends,

We organized a peace party to celebrate UN International Day of Peace 2010..in a city called Nepalganj, a town located in south west plains of Nepal bordering India. Students, doctors, human rights and peace activists, teachers, nurses, journalists, leaders, politicians, lawayers, joined to celebrate UN International Peace Day. The highlight of the program was a big 15 kg cake in a design of globe was made and it was cut by the victim of war in Nepal, a young guy who lost his father during the war.

We prayed May Peace Prevail on Earth, chanted various slogans, signed for peace and non-violence. We also appealed for Peace in Nepal and for drafting the constitution in Nepal on stipulated time. Nursing students sang peace songs while leaders and activists and representatives of various professional organizations expressed solidarity and wished for Peace.
