Light a Candle for Nigeria

13 January 2015

This past weekend brought horrible news of attacks by Boko Haram in Nigeria and surrounding areas. We send prayers and best wishes to our 15 Cooperation Circles, our Global Council Trustee, and our Regional Coordinator located in Nigeria who continually undertake incredible work despite these challenging times.

Let´s join them and those affected by this ongoing violence by lighting a candle and extending your prayers, thoughts and well wishes to the people of Nigeria. May peace prevail in Africa! May peace prevail on Earth!

Our Executive Director, the Rev. Victor H. Kazanjian, Jr. offers these words below:

URI sisters and brothers,

The devastation, the grief, the fear that our sisters and brothers in Nigeria are experiencing daily is almost unthinkable. But we must think about this violence, face the reality of this situation and feel the pain with members of our URI family in Nigeria. There is so much beauty and so much wisdom among the people of Nigeria, a people being assaulted by those who have little or no regard for an ethic of peaceful coexistence. Know that we are sending our prayers and our love to all those affected by this terrible crime and ongoing violence. We stand with you as together we continue to work for peace in Nigeria and around the world.

In peace... Victor
