URI MENA Office, in cooperation with Fundacja Spolecznie Bezpieczni, Poland, celebrated World Interfaith Harmony Week this year by bringing a portable classroom to a Syrian refugee camp. They brought school supplies and held educational activities with the children. None of the children growing up in the refugee camp had ever attended an actual school before, since they had fled from a young age with their families to escape the violence in Syria. The children under five years old were born in the refugee camp and never knew another life. “Words cannot describe how happy the children were,” said URI Regional Coordinator Mamoun Ahmad. “The smiles never left their faces.”
