Participants at the Zonal Assembly, where URI members from throughout the South India zone gather to exchange ideas, best practices, and inspiration.

We had a colourful start for our South India Zonal Assembly on May 20 at the JMM Study Centre, Trivandrum. Twenty-seven participants from Sri Lanka are with us. They visited the URI regional office and Karickam International Public School CC on May 19.

Dr. D. Babu Paul, former Chief Secretary of Kerala, inaugurated the event. Dr. M. J. Joseph delivered the keynote address on the theme "A Sacramental Attitude to Nature."

Six groups deliberated on the following crucial issues:

  1. Philosophical insights from the Scriptures as to the preservation and protection of the environment.
  2. Ten grave dangers that threaten Mother Earth today.
  3. Ten practical means to safeguard the Mother Earth from total destruction.
