URI Kids: About URI

The United Religions Initiative (URI) is a growing global community working to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings.

From its beginning, URI has been a vision and an invitation. The vision is that people from all different faiths can work together to make the world a better place for everyone. The invitation is to everyone in the world - children of all ages, women and men - to help make this vision a reality.

We hope our resources will inspire you to join us in making the world a better place for all!

The Story of the URI "Star"

The URI Star is based on the origami form created at a URI Global Summit by a then 10-year-old Walter Gray. He folded together a multi-colored form that he shifted from a circle into a star and offered the following narrative:

"Once the religions were far apart. These different colored pieces are like all different religions. Slowly, the religions get closer to understanding each other, there will be something there that no one expected - a star!"
