Saying good bye to a friend and Sheik in a synagogue

Escuela goodbye (Medium).JPG

Escuela de Amor CC and Bridge Builders program had a moving encounter last Monday. Dear Sheik Beytulhah Cholak, originally from Turkey and very active in interfaith since he arrived in Argentina 10 years ago, was leaving to San Antonio, Texas, USA where he will continue to serve the Islamic movement created by Fethullah Gulen.

It was symbolic that the farewell lunch (Kosher/Halal)  was prepared at the most emblematic Synagogue in Buenos Aires and that a good bunch of his Christian and Jewish friends were there ready to express their gratitude for all what this small man with a big heart had offered to each of us and the argentine community in general. Escuela de Amor CC and Bridge Builders program were certainly enrichened by his fresh, open and devote ways of being present.

I was personally very moved when, after hearing from each of us, he said that the one we had to thank was God and gave his full explanation to this.

He came to lunch together with the new president from Fundación de la Amistad Argentino Turca, Mr. Mustafa Eker and Ahmed Kotku who promised to take his place in all our activities.

Yours,
