UN declares World Interfaith Harmony Week

22 October 2010

The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on October 20, 2010 creating “World Faith Harmony Week” to be held on the first February of every year.  The resolution was introduced by Prince Ghazi Bin Mohammad, the Personal Envoy and Special Advisor to the King of Jordan, and coordinator of A Common Word, a group of Muslim scholars dedicated to promoting dialogue and understanding between Muslims and Christians. The voluntary week will provide a platform for religious institutions all over the world to speak out in their communities for peace among religions.
