The Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative CC (IPI) awarded its Peace Medal to THE INSTITUTE on Religion and Public Policy on March 11 for its efforts to promote religious freedom and human rights.
IPI Board Chairman Ambassador Mussie Hailu, URI’s Regional Director for Africa, presented the medal to INSTITUTE President Joseph K. Grieboski during a trip to Washington to receive an award of his own.
"THE INSTITUTE is building a bridge in interfaith communication," said Ambassador Hailu as he presented the medal. "We highly appreciate the efforts of your organization, and we look forward to establishing a working partnership."
The Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative is a peace organization based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which has been working actively since 2003 to promote interfaith cooperation, a culture of peace, harmony, constructive dialogue and the Golden Rule. The awardee, a one-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, works globally to promote fundamental rights, and religious freedom in particular, with government policy-makers, religious leaders, business executives, academics, non-governmental organizations and others.
"I am honored to accept the Peace Medal on behalf of THE INSTITUTE," stated founder and chairman Joseph K. Grieboski. "While it is heart warming to be acknowledged for the work we do, the real honor is the opportunity to partner with international organizations who share our mission of promoting religious freedom with government policy-makers, religious leaders, and NGOs around the world. We look forward to a long and enduring relationship with IPI."
