Experience of Interfaithwork with local community in Pakistan

2 June 2011

In April I had got a chance to attend workshop on teacher training. There were at least 300 teachers in that program divided in 5 groups of 60 people in each. I tried to study their behavior and thoughts to interfaith work. All were young people. But it’s sad that the way of thinking was so prejudice, so I concluded that, that will how these people will teach our nation.

All students were astonished at me as non-Muslim as many of them had seen this type first time within them. A few of them even stop any conversation with me and started avoiding me. The behavior of people toward interfaith talk was like it’s something very new and surprising for them. Many people were from different villages.

We are working with young student from universities and they understand a lot but now its need to educate people about this work at this level. Like, tell people about peace and equality on grass root level. Large number of people in my region belongs to this prejudice community. I need your suggestions to start work for these people.
