15 August 2011

On the 13 th of August, here in the Eastern zone in India we observed the very special day call "Raksha Bandhan", it is a very significant day all over the country especially in Bengal when Tagore started this ritual at the time of crisis and tension among Muslims and Hindus. We have visited 4 major places to tie a ribbon which sysbolizes the fiendship and relationship to protect each other from any obstacles. We visited the tribal community and they have performed a special dance with children for us. among the children we have distributed candys and chocolates. We also visited a leprosy rehabilitation center and initiated a discussion with Goverment personnel to provide them a better soulution for their liviing and specially providing the opportunity for education to their children otherwise they are being pushed out from the society. We ended our day by visiting an ashram, a potential group applying to become a CC, that already have done much work for interfaith harmony, women vocational training and preserving the Nature. Suchetana CC has organized the whole program and Ektaan CC also participated. Throughout the day more than 2000 people participated in this special day call Raksha Bandhan.
