IDP Celebration in Bangalore

As  a part of the Celebration of International Day of Peace, Bangalore South CC jointly with IARF organized a function at the Govt. First Grade College Jayanagar Bangalore on the 21st September 2011 at 11 am. 

The programme commenced with the interfaith prayer with Mr. Tausif Ahemed, Miss Amala Mary and Miss. Kavyashree.  Dr. Prithvi Raval, Past Rotary District Governor, Who was the Chief guest spoke on World Peace and Understanding.  He emphasized that peace should start from within.  He explained about  the  theme i.e. Reach within to Embrace  humanity.  He also shared his rich experience of serving the humanity  in several countries as a Rotary volunteer.  Further he informed about his adventure activities through Motor Cycling , which will promote great friendship and understanding among the different cultures of the world..  All these activities have contributed  for establishing world peace and understanding in different ways and different avenues of services to humanity.

An essay competition for college students of Bangalore City on the subject INTERNATIONAL PEACE was conducted by Prof. Yellappa.  A good response was received.  Prizes were distributed to winners by Mr. N. R.Ramesh Corporator of Bangalore City Corporation. 

Principal of the college Prof. Sidde Gowda presided over the function.

Mr. V.S. Shan bhogue  spoke about the purpose,principle and key areas of work of URI.  Further he appealed to students to involve themselves  by joining the activities URI. 

One minute silence was observed in our common commitment to peace.

Mr.  V.S. Shan bhogue  proposed vote of thanks to guests , college authorities particularly teaching faculty and students.  The function concluded with the National anthem.
