URI welcomed two new regional coordinators to its global staff, Dr. Enoé Texier and Dr. Potre Dirampatan-Diampuan, on April 3.
Dr. Texier is URI’s new Regional Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean. A Catholic of Mestizo descent from Caracas, Venezuela, she holds a doctorate in Social Sciences. As an anthropologist and a professor at the Central University of Venezuela for more than twenty years, she has promoted many peacebuilding programs within and outside the university.
Since 2000, she has led URI’s Circle of Cooperation for Dialogue (CCD) in conjunction with the university. Dr. Texier is the co-founder of the American Council on Indian Spirituality (CISEI) in Mexico, an organization which works to build bridges between indigenous people and scientists and specialists who value tradition and cultural plurality. Her publications include Creators by Tradition (1981), Sacred Momentum(1998), Understanding Networks (1999), and Values Education is Educating for Peace(2000).
Dr. Potre Diampuan is URI’s new Regional Coordinator for Southeast Asia and the Pacific. A Muslim from Mindanao in the Philippines, Dr. Diampuan holds a doctorate in Philosophy and Educational Management, and is a master teacher, curriculum developer and consultant. She has a strong history of youth mentorship, community development and peacebuilding in the Philippines.
From 2007 to 2010, she was a consultant in educational concerns for the mayor’s office in Marawi City, where she advised the mayor on education and conducted educational programs and workshops for teachers of public schools. Since 2010, she has been a consultant on peace programs for the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos in Quezon City and represents the commission in various working groups on interfaith dialogue and religious freedom, women’s concerns, the welfare of children, climate change and Madrasah education.
