Rev. Gibbs Offers 'Condolences and Solidarity' to Sikh Temple Following Attack

6 August 2012

Dear Bhai Sahib Bhai Gurmail Singh and Friends of the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin,

I write on behalf of the United Religions Initiative's global community to offer our profound condolences and solidarity at this time of unimaginable tragedy in your community.

We join you in grieving the loss of beloved members of your community. May they, their families and your entire community be surrounded and supported by God's healing light and love.

We join in your sorrow and outrage that your temple, a place dedicated to the holy, has been desecrated by the deadly violence of blind hatred.

We join you in opposing such actions wherever they occur.

As a community dedicated to interfaith cooperation to end religiously motivated violence and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing, we stand in solidarity with you.

We pray that out of this tragedy all Americans, and indeed all humans, will make a deeper commitment to building inclusive communities where we celebrate our diversity as glorious expressions of our common humanity as children of one Light.

Blessings,
