Hosted by Dr. Kazi Nurul Islam, who founded the department of World Religions and Cultures at Dhaka University, the URI Bangladesh event brought together 55 members of the Baha’i, Hindu, Muslim and Ramakrishna Mission communities.  They included the renowned Prof. K.A.M. Saaduddin, a champion of social justice, and Prof. Dr. Anisuzzaman, a philosopher and ambassador of peace and inter-religious harmony.

“Throughout the meeting, we discussed the guidelines for forming CCs and reviewed a visual presentation of URI’s organizational structure,” said Biswadeb Chakraborty, URI’s Coordinator for the subregion.  “People were grouped for a short Appreciative Interview session, followed by a presentation which was very uplifting, because all of the participants were deeply engaged in conversation.  I must say that URI Bangladesh is shining.”

The September event concluded with a call for participants to engage in social justice – and a promise of further cooperation and communication. The following participants agreed to become part of an executive team for URI Bangladesh, which will promote URI actions in accordance with the organization’s preamble, purpose and principles:
