URI West India Zonal Assembly

Greetings of Peace,

URI  - West Zone India successfully accomplished the Zonal Assembly in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of April 2016. 

The inaugural address began with Victor’s message. This was followed by a message from our guest of honour Mr. Anand Mohan Mathur, who is Attorney General of India and a Gandhian, on peace and communal harmony.

Further, we had prominent experts who addressed the meeting and shared their knowledge and experience with us, which gave us a chance to understand the country's present political and social conditions.

We had experts like: 

  1. Fr. Sanjay Solomon, who emphasized on the values of love and compassion for bridge building.
  2. Dr. Saroj Kumar, an expert on development and human rights, who discussed the topic “No Social Development Without Peace.”
  3. Dr. Shashikant Bhatt, a Gandhian and an historian on Medieval history, who took a session on Ganga - Jamuna Sanskruti.
  4. Qutub Kidwai, who shared some important events from the history of Islam and the Prophet’s life, covering the topic “Global Peace and Islam.”
  5. Dr. Rama Panchal, an expert and fighter for Dalit rights, who discussed the issues and development of Dalits in Madhya Pradesh.
  6. Sardar Satindra Singh, a journalist and head of Gurudwara, Indore, who helped understand the Saints tradition.
  7. Dr. Pushpendra Dubey, who covered the topic “World Peace and Gandhi Darshan.”

The Zonal Assembly gave our Cooperation Circles and the Youth Ambassadors an opportunity to present and discuss their work.

We held sessions on the work-plan for 2016. Reporting, budgets, assessments and impacts were also discussed.

There were open discussions and feedback sessions which were chaired by Dr. Mukund Kulkarni and Bishop Swami Chako. 

URI's contribution and mission for global peace were highly appreciated. The concept of the Cooperation Circle symbolizes grassroots leadership initiative.

The zonal assembly conducted at Indore gave the team of URI West India an opportunity to meet experts and knowledgeable people from different walks of life who are working at the grassroots level for the same mission as URI.
