URI Africa Signs MOU with GIMI For Training and Capacity-Building Opportunities

3 June 2016

Greetings of peace and happy to share with you that I signed agreement on behalf of URI with Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) to provide opportunities for training and enhancing the capacity of URI members. The agreement was signed with Dr. Joseph Shevel, President of GIMI.

GIMI is a leading public training institution, offering advanced leadership, management and capacity building seminars to professionals from more than 200 transitional and industrialized countries around the world. The institute enjoys a global reputation as a top management institute, and to date, more than 20,000 senior managers, administrators and planners have graduated from the international programs at the institute.

The mission of the GIMI is to bridge the gap between transitional and developed nations through education and capacity building programs.

GIMI’s Centre of Middle East and Religious Studies provides courses in Middle Eastern politics and religion. Through lectures and study tours, participants gain a better understanding of the range of responses offered by the religiously and ethnically varied populations to the complex issues routinely encountered in the area.

The objectives of the agreement included the following:

  • To organize short courses on the issue of peace, national security, environment, climate change, conflict resolution and on leadership and management for URI CC members, religious leaders, faith based and interfaith organizations
  • To promote inter-religious and intercultural dialogue
  • To promote partnership among faith based, interfaith organizations and policy makers and international organizations who are working in the area of peace, security, strategic study and countering violent extremism
  • To promote peaceful co-existence and harmony among different religions, cultures and ethnicity groups
  • To jointly counter violent extremism, radicalization and terrorism
  • To safe guard young people from radicalization and to provide them with peacebuilding training
  • To address the role of faith base organizations in the protection of the environment and climate change
  • To jointly organize workshops, meetings, and seminars on relevant issues to URI CCs

May Peace Prevail on Earth

In peace and gratitude
