The Weekly Shot: Promoting Young Musicians in India

Because music bridges cultural differences and language barriers to connect people heart-to-heart, many URI Cooperation Circles choose musical events as a way to promote a message of peace. Earlier this year, URI members in eastern India helped to host a music festival as an opportunity to spotlight emerging artists. Singers as young as 14 years old performed in front of an audience of over 500 people, including media channels that covered the event. It was an exciting time that showcased not only URI’s commitment to uplifting the voices of peacebuilders of all ages, but also the power of music to connect us to our shared humanity.
