Inter-Cultural Youth Council Inaugurates Programs to Plant 20,000 Trees!

The Inter-Cultural Youth Council of Islamabad, Pakistan recently received a donation of 20,000 plants, which were planted at four locations around Islamabad.

Inter-Cultural Youth Council Islamabad Tree Planting Ceremony in Gujar Khan, Pakistan. 

In recent months a local High School was gifted 1000 plants, and the Bhatta Grave Yard was also given 15000 plants. Total, the Inter-Cultural Youth Council has received 5000 plants for plantation in Gujar Khan.

The first Pilot Project of tree plantation was launched at Raja Sarwar Shaheed Degree College Territory, it was given teh name of "Green Gujar Khan Pilot Project."

The project was a joint venture with the social welfare office of Gujar Khan and the Mother Welfare Foundation in Gujar Khan.

Participating groups planting saplings of trees making the event a great success. After plantation, participants said a prayer and tea was served by the principle of the high school.

The Coordinator of the Inter-Cultural Youth Council, Ahmad Hussain, was asked to say a few words about the project. He remarked that the plans were provided by the Pakistan Tobacco Company Swabi Nursary KPK free of cost. He recognized that the plans that were donated were of good quality, and committed to working with the tobacco company to provide more plans to the College to support their "Green Pothowar Project" to make the college green.

Later in the month, Ahmad Hussain also inaugurated a tree plantation program at Shaheed Amjad Inayat Janjua Boys High School in Bhatta, Tehsil Gujar Khan, Pakistan. During the celebration, the boys planted 1000 trees. The students took a keen interest in digging the holes for the seedlings and promised to water the trees every day until they become part of the soil. The principle of the school also promised to look at the plants just as he looks after the students.

During the month of march, the Inter-Cultural Youth Council also supported a tree planting ceremony at the College for Women Daultala, who received 5000 plants that were also shared with some local NGOs in Dualtala.

The Coordinator, Ahmad Hussain thanks all the staff members and students who made the event a success.
