The Weekly Shot: Golden Rule Day

In the photo above, Heidi Rautionmaa, a former URI Global Council Trustee for Europe and Finland’s Interfaith Dialogue Network Coordinator, honors Finland’s President Taria Halonen with URI’s Golden Rule Award in 2010.

April 5 honors the Golden Rule, “Treat others and the Planet as you would like to be treated.” This is a universal principle shared by nearly all cultural, spiritual, religious, and secular traditions on Earth.

This year, URI is teaming up with dozens of organizations all over the world to spend 24 hours reflecting on, celebrating and challenging ourselves to live this principle more fully, not just on April 5, but on every day of the year.

  • What: A collaborative webcast that will feature people from around the world sharing their perspectives on “Why the Golden Rule Matters Now” through talking, dancing, singing and more.
  • When: All day on April 5 (click here to see the schedule)
  • How: Watch via Facebook Live or RSVP to get a link sent to your email
