Father Petar Gramatikoff, URI Global Trustee for Europe, took part in a National Round Table organized by the Department of Philosophy and History at Plovdiv State University, in association with the Regional Historical Museum-Plovdiv on April 20th, 2018.
At a round table dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the rescue of the Jewish community during the Second World War, academics (from Sofia State University, Goldsmiths University, London, UK) and representatives of various religious and ethnic communities, in Bulgaria and abroad, of the NGO-sector (European Coalition for Israel, Foundation Center for Legal Aid - Voice in Bulgaria, et al.) shared and discussed different viewpoints from this sorrowful episode in Europe’s and the world’s history – the Holocaust extermination of Jews, Gypsies and other minority groups by the Nazis.
A presentation of the book ”Contemporary Left Antisemitism“ by David Hirsh (Goldsmiths University-London) took place during the commemorative event.
