Commemorating Chiara Lubich

On Saturday, March 16, the 11th anniversary of the departure of Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement or Work of Mary, was commemorated in Quito. The Focolare Movement is an ecclesial movement within the Catholic Church, which was founded by Chiara Lubich in Trento during the postwar period, characterized by its vocation to ecumenism and interreligious dialogue.

Among its objectives is to promote unity and universal brotherhood in the love of the neighbor. Part of its premise is the so-called Golden Rule, which is present in almost all religions and says, "Treat the other as you would like to be treated."

For this commemoration a mass was celebrated, a biographical review was performed, and then a time to share interreligiously.

I, Víctor Rey, member of the Spiritual Forum of Santiago (a URI Cooperation Circle or member group), was able to accompany the focolarini friends in this beautiful time.
