In Pakistan, a group of Christians from different denominations has joined forces to sustain a historic hospital serving the Lahore community. United Christian Hospital (UCH) was a state-of-the-art facility when it was first built in the 1960s, and was the site of Pakistan’s first open-heart surgery (which was performed on a Muslim man). But, in recent years, lack of funds has crippled its ability to function.
UCH's mission is “to serve the un-served and to reach the un-reached.” The team is gathering to save the hospital so it can work for the people of all religions in Pakistan, according to Asher Nazir (Executive Secretary, URI Pakistan). Asher says, "Together we are here and collecting donations, and for that purpose we are involving many people from different faiths and religions in Pakistan and overseas."
