On November 21st, the Department of Partnership and Violence Prevention hosted its monthly Violence Prevention Community Call, a platform that explores diverse topics related to violence prevention and highlights the impactful work of URI members.
This month’s call featured representatives from Regenerate Shingal (Iraq) and the Rwenzori Abductees and Returnees Organisation (FORARO, Uganda), who shared invaluable lessons learned in peacebuilding within challenging contexts involving militias, violent extremist groups, and violence against Indigenous communities or religious minorities. During the call, participants explored the various types of violence and potential interventions in conflicts caused by militias, governments, gangs, and organized groups, and identified practical tools and methodologies to prevent violence in these contexts.
