Members from Interfaith Fellowship, Thalavoor belong to Hindu, Christian and Muslim communities. They have been involved in different social and voluntary organizations. They have conducted educational and environmental seminars in different schools. They have attended several interfaith conferences and workshops. They participate in community development projects like blood donation, women’s empowerment, and medical camps, among others. This Cooperation Circle (CC) knows well the important role of educators in the upbringing of the younger generation. As such, members promote leadership training and peace building activities. Their theological expertise also helps in shaping the interfaith understanding among members of various communities. Members also want to learn from the experiences of CCs around the world—one of their main objectives in inaugurating a URI unit in their neighborhood.
Thalavoor is a remote area where there is a large population of Hindus, Christians and Muslims. It is a conflict prone center, where the presence of this CC is desired to foster lasting peace and harmony. Thalavoor Pooram (festival of lights)—a celebration the Fellowship partakes in—is very famous and attracts thousands of people every year. These events expose people to the mission of this CC, where the model they bring through educational training, humanitarian aid, interfaith seminars, and poverty eradication greatly impacts the community and beyond.
