Ratnapura “Minimuthu” URI CC group represents all the religions in the area (Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity). The group is a collaboration of inter-religious leaders, active social workers, and dignitaries from several other fields, who are willing to work for the betterment of communities without expecting any personal benefits. Members aim to further educate people on the true values of each religion and to carry out the concept of “Celebrating Diversity.” They promote cultural diversity through various cultural events.
They built drinking water wells, in order to alleviate water distribution in very rural villages that are part of the Rathnapura district. During the implementation of this project, all the people gathered and worked together regardless of their religions showing true interfaith cooperation. There also are tree planting programs in the Rathnapura district, as part of this CC efforts.
