Let’s say you like meeting people (that’s what the Internet is for, right?)
In fact, you’re interested in meeting people who are different from yourself – different nationalities, different religious backgrounds, different ways of looking at the world.
You’d like to be doing something that makes a difference. And you don’t mind taking on a little responsibility.
Congratulations. You may be a candidate for URI’s Youth Ambassadors Program.
As a Youth Ambassador, you’ll be asked to come up with a project that impacts both your local community and the broader geographic region, and given the resources to make that project a reality.
You’ll take part in a regional training program with other Youth Ambassadors, and you’ll be paired with a mentor – often one of our existing Ambassadors – to help you get started.
Our Youth Ambassador program began in 2010 with 15 aspiring leaders from around the world. Since then, those Youth Ambassadors have launched a “Rose Movement” for peace along the India-Nepal border, started a conflict resolution training and research center in Beirut and organized an interfaith blood drive in Kenya.
And they’re just getting started.
In 2012, we hope to attract 12 more young leaders aged 18-26 from Europe, North America and the Great Lakes Region of Africa – and we plan to seek applications from other regions in 2013.
