Musaique grew out of a URI Assembly in 2008 in Amman, Jordan, when Arab Jordanian Jamil Sarraj and Jewish Israeli Lee Ziv, along with Amir, an Iranian musician, met and played music together for the first time. It was at this meeting that Lee (on this tour) and Jamil recognized their shared vision. Says Lee Ziv of that first meeting: "We felt the magic, the magic of a pure music; that melting of all the borders and walls. At the moment we dreamed this project, we saw the vision coming true. We are not only the dreamers, we are the dream.” In a region known for its religious and historical strife, Musaique brings together musicians from across religious, cultural, and national divides.

Musaique were featured guests at the 2012 Circles of Light celebration.  To find out more about the special guests at this year’s Circles of Light gala, click here.
