Greetings of peace from URI-Africa.

This is to inform you that URI-Africa took part at the Interfaith Side-Event of the 3rd International Conference on Financing for Development on July 14, 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The side event meeting was convened by the African Interfaith Initiative on the Post 2015 Development Agenda in partnership with The United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC).

I am happy to inform you that URI-Africa endorsed the African Faith Leaders Statement on Financing the Development Agenda.

The Third International Conference on Financing for Development kicked off in Addis Ababa from 13 to 16 July, 2015.

The conference was inaugurated by the United Nations Secretary General as it is held under its auspices, Ethiopian Prime Minister, President of United Nations General Assembly, senior officials of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization and a large number of delegations of UN member states as well as many representatives of international and regional bodies and NGOs.

The conference tackles the general framework and principles relevant to a global partnership for development among developing and developed countries, seeking to take effective steps to reduce global poverty and mobilize necessary financial resources for development and work on the implementation of previous international agreements in this regard.

It also deals with promoting the development follow-up financing mechanism and dealing with the issues and challenges emerging in the field of sustainable development, including those related to the issue of climate change, and other relevant topics.

In peace and gratitude,
