Ambassador Mussie Hailu, who has served as Global Envoy and Director of the United Religion Initiative (URI) for Africa and Representative of URI to the Africa Union and the United Nations, has accepted a new role as Director of Global Partnerships.
This year, for the first-ever World Tolerance Summit, URI sent a delegation of esteemed members to take part. URI’s Executive Director, The Rev. Victor H. Kazanjian, Jr., shares his reflections below :
URI was invited this year to be a part of the United Nations Alliance of Civilization Global Forum (UNAOC), which brings together key international actors from diverse fields to build productive partnerships and networks.
URI featured prominently in programs and workshops at the 2018 Parliament of the World’s Religions (PoWR), the largest global interfaith gathering, which took place November 1 – 7, 2018 in Toronto, ON.
Participants learn both online and in-person, identifying their core values, making plans for their lives, finding and adopting mentors, and learning principles and skills that will help them lead out in their own lives and give back to others.
Yemen is a nation in crisis. The impoverished country is facing a humanitarian crisis of mammoth proportions, including a devastating famine, in an ongoing civil war that is exacerbated by a scourge of religious violence. There is no time to spare.
