PEACE CC member organizes FDP on Renewable Energy and Alternative Fuels at DTU, Delhi

A Faculty Development Programme on Renewable Energy and Alternative Fuels (REAF 2014) was conducted from June 16 to June 20, 2014 at Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi by Dr J.P. Kesari, Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department and an active member of PEACE CC. Prof. Kesari, a former director at AICTE, is specialized in solar energy having obtained his PhD in the same field in 1984 from France and is currently faculty adviser on solar projects at DTU, Delhi.

Around 133 faculties from various engineering colleges from in and around Delhi, Noida, Gaziabad, Sonipat, NIT, etc. participated in the FDP programme.  

The Grid-Connected PV Systems: Design and Installation as well as off grid stand alone PV systems were explained to the participants. The founder Vice Chancellor Prof. P.B. Sharma delivered a lecture on empowering India with solar energy technology. There was also a deliberation on Indo-German Technical Cooperation in the area of renewable energy by Dr. Anil Misra from GIZ, India Office Delhi. Shri A.K. Khater, CMD High Tech. Agro Ltd, Faridabad explained the process of  making briquettes from various biomass wastes from agriculture and  horticulture and their uses  for the future generation thermal boilers in India, Dr. R.P. Goswami Director MNRE, GOI  delivered a lecture on concentrated solar thermal power generation policies of MNRE, GOI, and also Mr. Pankaj Kumar, from the same department explained UNDP-GEF project on market development of Concentrating Solar Technologies for industrial process heat applications. There was a field visit to National Institute of Solar Energy, Gwalpahari, where participants were exposed to various solar energy devices such as Solar Air conditioning, Solar Thermal power generation, Sterling engine and many solar devises installed in 200 acres in the campus.

Dr J P Kesari, the course Coordinator of this programme presented a detailed picture of how to transform India into a Green Nation through Renewable Energy Education and training on the last day.
