On October 7th, 2019, URI Asia Regional Coordinator in Asia, Dr. Fr. James Channan, collaborated with Golden Star CC coordinator Ms. Neelam Nisari to put the spotlight on the issue of gender equality, the 5th goal of the United Nations.
While many Western countries have made huge advancements towards gender equality, Pakistan still faces vast gender gaps. The basic understanding that all humans, regardless of their gender, should have equal rights to education, healthcare and opportunities is still missing. The social construction of gender roles weakens men's, and especially women’s, potential in political and social fields. The seminar aimed to encourage people to leave no one behind and treat all genders with equal respect, equal rights and equal opportunities.
