Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Dultz has been appointed honorary chairman by the German-Libyan Society and its chairman, Dr. Hussein Karkani. This event was celebrated with a Basin dinner in the rooms of the Society, which was also attended by guests of URI Germany and the DMLBonn CC (Chadigah Kissel, Karimah Stauch, Marianne Horling, Andreas Winkelmann, Ulrike Hummel and her husband Ahmad and further guests).
Basin is a typical North African Berber food, the production of which is slowly being forgotten in the course of modernisation. Meat and vegetables are placed in tomato sauce around a large dough cone and placed in the middle of the table as a communal meal. Usually it is eaten with the hands, which not everyone at this event dared to do.
The guests also met together out of solidarity with the Libyan people, who have been suffering from the civil war for seven years now since Gaddafi's death. However, political issues were excluded, as every one of the Libyans is emotionally affected in their own way. The food was prepared by the men of the association in hours of work and served with all oriental hospitality. The rooms had been prepared in a way typical for the country.
