Brook International School (BIS) was founded by Fr. Dr. G. Abraham Thalothil on 2 June 2005 on the banks of the beautiful freshwater lake of Sasthamcotta. Recognized by the state and affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education in the year 2007, the school flourishes with sections from kindergarten to higher secondary school. The school stands out for its exemplary vision. Innovative ideas strengthen its quality and value-based education. Its area, Sasthamcotta, contains households of all three major religions: Hindus, Christians and Muslims. Lately the area has become sensitive for communal unrest, and the need for establishing interfaith harmony and bridge-building in the area has grown. To address this issue, school authorities observe all the religious festivals and organize peace rallies in which all people across the religions take part. The school also undertakes religious dialogue motivating the staff and students not to be afraid; but to practice religious harmony. The Brook International School Community has taken the pledge under “One Billion Youth for Peace.”
