The Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue is a community-based organization in Uganda that values and promotes respect for diversity, tolerance, and peaceful co-existence. Following several religious and cultural conflicts in Uganda, the Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (CIID) was established with a strong desire for a peaceful country and world that embraces religious and cultural tolerance to avert conflict.
The initiatives designed are focused on Community Building, Education, Interfaith and Intercultural Understanding and Dialogue, Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation, empowering Women and youth.
Their interventions in peacebuilding include founding peace clubs in schools and higher institutions intending to promote coexistence through interreligious and intercultural dialogue. They organize seminars and workshops in local communities with the intent of promoting social cohesion. CIID is also passionate about empowering women from minority religions and cultural backgrounds through inclusive and diverse dialogue with women from mainstream religious and cultural groups. They have designed programs that support young people and communities to counter violent extremism in communities and schools.
CIID hopes to continue championing peacebuilding in communities through dialogue. They are also desirous to work with like-minded organizations and contribute to URI’s global mission.
