About 25 participants from 12 Arab countries took part in this gathering and shared their experiences in volunteerism. 

URI MENA participated in the first international conference on “Peace in Diversity: The Integrative Approach to Inter-cultural and Civilizational Affairs.”

Volunteering for Peace members participated in the International youth exchange “Europe meets Euromed.”

URI MENA Office brought a portable classroom to a Syrian refugee camp, where many of the children had never been to school before.

In recognition of International Women's Day 2017, URI recognizes two of its outstanding women leaders: Nour Darwish with Makers of Hope Cooperation Circle in Libya, and Farah Hussain Al Badran with Larsa Cooperation Circle in Iraq.

All the children we met at the refugee camp had never been in school, since the older ones (4-11 years old) fled with their families about five years ago from the violence in Syria. The younger ones were born in this refugee camp.
